The rain let up... I woke up from my nap and pulled on some clothes. Suddenly I hear a thud and rustling right out side the window that I've installed the new AC into (thank you Joc and Hubby) I finish putting on my shirt and walk over... just in time to see a Pigeon poke it's head into my apartment through the crack between the area between AC and wall. The wood barrier comes falling down. I take a step back.. surprised. Memories of Hitchcok's "The Birds" springs into my mind. The damn bird just entered my apartment. I look at the bird. The bird looks at me. It cocks it's head all bird like and coos. Slate looks up at me and simply goes "Mew". (I've yelled at her before for jumping at the birds near the window... it's loud.. it wakes me up and it's full of Cat Fail to attack birds with a window between them and us) I half point at the bird (I'm still in shock at a bird walking into my apartment) and tell Slate.. "git it." Slate JUMPS from almost half way across the room and lands next to the bird. RARRR!!! Needless to say There have been No More Pigeons coming near my windows in the past 2 hours. Finally the cat has more use than "generator of interesting stories, gas engine of destruction, halter of night time activities, and eater of food" |

This was on boingboing today. It's the Talking Heads concert video of "Life During Wartime" from "Stop Making Sense." It's awesome. You should watch it.

No luck on the oil change front. Computers are done. Tech came over and told me what was up and recommended coming back in an hour. I said, I can't, let me wait and see if it's something you can get fixed quickly. He came back 5 minutes later and said we can't fix it. They're sending a tech. They said you should come back in an hour. *I CAN'T*. What part of "I can't." was the slightest bit unclear?
I'm okay with the oil change delay, but the not listening to what I said sorta irritated me. Anyway, I'll go tomorrow. At least while I was out, I was able to get cough drops, so there's that. Now I have to stay awake until noon. Then I might have to take a nap.
I'll work on my project planning spreadsheet. That should keep me busy and out of trouble. |

| MONSTERS NEEDED FOR A WEREWOLF BIKER FILM SHOOTING IN PITTSBURGH!!! |
[Jul. 1st, 2009|01:34 pm] |
WE NEED MONSTERS FOR A WEREWOLF BIKER FILM SHOOTING IN PITTSBURGH!!! Any and all kinds of fantastical movie monsters are needed to fill in a party scene at the DUQUESNE INCLINE on TUESDAY JULY 7TH. This is a non-paying gig, but there will be food and drink provided, and you'll have the opportunity to get credit on an independent film. We'll be shooting Tuesday July 7th. Call for actors to get into makeup is at 7, call for actors already in makeup is 8:30. We start shooting the second the sun goes down. You must provide your own costume, but depending on the type of monster, we may be able to assist with makeup. If you're interested, contact nightmareonthetown@gmail.com and we'll hopefully get back to you same day. Oh but please, no zombies? There are just too many damn zombies in Pittsburgh. No vampires either. I'm going to punch that Edward guy in the face. |

...but something someone said to me on irc reminded me that I meant to post about this but had not. Last night I heard Bill Moyers (who I must admit I do not like) interviewing Paul Krugman (who I must admit I also do not like) and Krugman stated that he believes the bailout of Goldman Sachs was probably not necessary. Now, I seem to recall that, probably less than a year ago, Krugman made at least one blog post the general thesis of which was "zOMG the sky is falling, bail out everyone!!!" So, which is it, Mr. Krugman, or do I misremember? |

I started a new project last night. It's this one (You can only see if it's you're registered. (Registration is free, they will only spam you if you opt in...yadda yadda). It's a shawl. I'm using the pink Vanna's Yarn I got at JoAnn's on sale this weekend. It starts with a circle, which you half fill with double crochet and it builds from there. So far I'm into my third rep of the pattern and it's beautiful. It works up quickly too. (considering I've pretty much only worked on it last night).
My picture frames arrived from Woot. Wintrmute has always claimed one of them. I'll take the other to the office tomorrow and try it out. If I like it better than my 7" (and why wouldn't I?), I'll probably ask Liz if she wants my old 7".
Good workout this morning. I decided to go for the extra year, which is about half again the price of a year. I need to put together an outline for a book.
I'm feeling sorta excited and bubbly, and not sure why, but I'm determined to enjoy it. Honestly, I think it's in part this new craft project. It's so satisfying to work on something that goes quickly, and it's so soft and beautiful. Pink makes me so happy generally.
Tonight we bottle Hoppie's beer. |
